متن کاملDistal interphalangeal joint arthrodesis with Herbert screw
Fifteen patients underwent arthrodesis of finger distal interphalangeal joint (DIP) and/or thumb interphalangeal joint (IP). Only Herbert screw intramedullary compression fixation was used. There was one faulty proximal thread placement with some pain, but the patient refused further surgery. Full union was achieved in 14 of the cases, with prominent hardware in one and intolerance to cold in two.
متن کاملIrreducible dislocation of the interphalangeal joint of the thumb.
Two cases of posttraumatic irreducible compound dislocation of the interphalangeal joint of the thumb are presented. This rare injury requires surgical intervention with anatomic repositioning of the structures responsible for the irreducibility viz. the long Flexor tendon and the volar plate.
متن کاملIdeal position for thumb interphalangeal arthrodesis in the era of smartphones and text communication.
The hypothesis of this study was that arthrodesis of the thumb interphalangeal joint at a degree of flexion greater than the recommended 0° to 15° in the era of widespread use of handheld devices would potentially be more beneficial for the use of these devices. For patients who rely heavily on a smart-phone or handheld device and require dominant thumb arthrodesis, thumb interphalangeal arthro...
متن کاملCompression Arthrodesis of the Carpo-metacarpal Joint of the Thumb.
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Arthrodesis of the carpometacarpal (CMC) joint of the thumb is an option for treatment of degenerative and post-traumatic conditions affecting the CMC thumb joint. This procedure is indicated most frequently in patients with primary or secondary stage III rhizarthritis (by the Eaton classification of basal joint arthritis) of idiopathic, rheumatic or post-traumatic etiology...
